Tariffs for consumers

E.ON has a long-standing partnership with Age UK, and offer a number of tariffs that are exclusively available to people over 60 years old. However, you can be sure that E.ON will have a suitable tariff for you, no matter how old you are.

E.ON offer three Fixed tariffs, two of which are specifically designed for the over 60s. All three come with no cancellation fee, so you can switch to another supplier whenever you want.

The E.ON Fixed Price Saver tariff is open to everyone, and locks down your rates for up to 18 months. It’s available for dual-fuel supply or electricity only, and you have the option of managing your account online. Discounts are available if you choose to pay by Direct Debit, although you can pay with cash or cheque if you like, and you’ll also build up bonus Tesco Clubcard Points for every unit you consume.

The Age UK Fixed Price Saver is similar to E.ON’s standard fixed tariff, although you have to be over 60 years old to qualify. The plan is slightly cheaper than the standard fixed tariff, and is available to gas only customers, as well those who take dual-fuel or electricity only. As long as you sign up for gas supply, you’ll also receive cold weather payments, which increase if you’re over 70 years old.

Finally, E.ON StayWarm is the company’s second fixed tariff for the over 60s, and is a little bit different. It’s only available to dual-fuel customers, offers no online account management, and is only billed via Direct Debit. The fixed term only lasts for 12 months, but your rates are determined by the size of your home, and the number of people living there. This makes it an excellent choice if you’re living on your own, or if your home is relatively small.  As long as your home has three bedrooms or less, and has fewer than four people living there, you’ll qualify for this tariff.

E.ON also offer a wide range of Variable tariffs, with seven different options currently available. These include prepayment plans, special online rates, and also a tariff that’s only available to the over 60s.

The E.ON Energy Plan is the supplier’s basic variable tariff, and is available to electricity only, gas only and dual-fuel customers. Your account can be managed online, and discounts are available if you pay by Direct Debit, although you can also choose to pay by cash or cheque if you want to. You’ll earn bonus Tesco Clubcard Points for every unit consumed, and there’s also no cancellation fee, so you’re free to switch whenever you want to.

If you want to keep a close eye on your energy spend, then the E.ON Energy Plan with Prepayment might be the right choice for you. As with the standard plan, you can opt for electricity only, gas only or dual-fuel supply, and can choose to manage your account online. You’ll earn Tesco Clubcard Points every time you top up, and there’s no cancellation fee if you decide to switch. However, this tariff is more expensive than the standard plan, and you’ll need to find a shop displaying the PayPoint or PayZone logos when you want to top up your meter.

E.ON’s Age UK Energy tariff offers all the benefits of their standard variable tariff, but is only available to people over 60 years old. This variable tariff is slightly cheaper than the standard version, but is restricted to electricity or dual-fuel customers only. Age UK Energy customers also receive cold weather payments, an early warning hypothermia monitor, and can also send off for a free pack containing a Carbon Monoxide Alarm, a wind-up torch, and a twin pack of LED teardrop night lights. On top of that, Age UK Energy customers also qualify for discounted loft or cavity wall insulation services – and if you’re over 70, you can get both types of insulation installed completely free of charge.

E.ON EnergyOnline is exactly the same as the basic variable plan, but comes with an additional discount for managing the account online. You’ll earn Tesco Clubcard Points as you spend, and there’s no cancellation fee, giving you the flexibility to switch when you want to. However, this tariff is only available to electricity only or dual-fuel customers, and bills must be paid by Direct Debit only.

E.ON’s second online variable plan is the E.ON SaveOnline tariff, which offers most of the benefits of the E.ON EnergyOnline package. This is the cheapest variable tariff offered by E.ON, and the only downside is that you’ll be charged a cancellation fee if you decide to switch early.

E.ON Track and Save is currently about the same price as the standard E.ON Energy Plan, but this is subject to change. This is because your price is based on the standard British Gas rates – E.ON keep track of them for you, and guarantee to keep their prices lower. This tariff is open to electricity only, gas only or dual-fuel customers, with optional online account management. You can choose to pay by cash or cheque, although discounts are available if you opt for Direct Debit. You’ll also earn Tesco Clubcard Points for every unit consumed, and there’s no cancellation fee if you decide to switch to another supplier.

The E.ON Price Protection plan is a variable tariff with a difference. The initial rate is higher than the standard E.ON Energy Plan, but the benefit is that it won’t get any higher, even if the price of energy goes up. However, unlike a fixed tariff, your rates can actually go down if E.ON’s standard price falls, which gives you the best of both worlds. If you sign up to this plan, you’ll also qualify for bonus Tesco Clubcard Points, and can manage the account online if you want to. Payments can be made by cheque or cash, with discounts available for Direct Debit, and there’s no cancellation fee if you choose to move on. However, this plan is only open to dual-fuel or electricity only customers.

E.ON also offer a green tariff, simply known as E.ON GoGreen, which is certified by the Green Energy Scheme. It’s a bit more expensive than the standard variable plan, but you’ll have the peace of mind of knowing that your energy is coming from 100% renewable sources. The plan is open to dual-fuel and electricity only customers, with the option to manage your account online. You’ll earn Tesco Clubcard Points as you spend, and there’s no cancellation fee. However, this tariff is only available if you sign up to payment by Direct Debit.
